Let’s dive into the ‘Describe an interesting conversation you had with your friend’ IELTS cue card (2022) with Band 7-9 sample answers & Follow up questions:

Introducing an interesting conversation

Human beings interact with each other on a daily basis and having a conversation puts deep impact on each other’s life. I’ve had many interesting conversations, but here I would like to talk about something which influenced me a lot.

Who you spoke with?

This conversation was with my friend Rohit. He is an Engineer working at Microsoft.

Where you were?

On a recent train journey with my best friend, I came to an unexpected realisation. Even though we’ve known each other for years, there’s still a lot we don’t know about one another.

What the conversation was about?

The conversation was about an epic Hollywood show Game of Thrones. Interestingly, we stumbled upon the topic after we saw a historical monument on the way that looked similar to a castle shown in GOT. We talked about key battles and plot developments in the show. He also confessed his love for Emilia Clarke (the queen of dragons) during the conversation.

Explain why you think it was interesting?

It was primarily interesting because we developed our passionate theories and opinions during the conversation. Like, who’s dead forever? Who’s coming back in the sequel of the show? and so on. Secondly, Rohit read all the GOT books so he revealed some hidden truths behind the show. I think this all made our conversation fascinating.

Concluding the cue card

In the end, I would say that there are some conversations between you and your best friend that will make your bond stronger — for instance, I didn’t know Rohit is an even bigger fan of Game of thrones than me.
