Don’t know How to structure a band 9 essay? Read our guide here.

Model Answer 1

Educational expertise has become a great tool for securing a good job, this results into the latest increase in the number of people admitting into universities. However, some people say that employers should stress on personal attributes rather than academic qualifications and experience while selecting employees. Personally, I totally disagree with this viewpoint.

One major reason behind why the status of education should be prioritised during employment is the need for good soft skills, preferably communication. In other words, good communication skills are important in every profession, and as such, one needs to be fluent in at least speaking, reading and listening to a language that is spoken globally. Evidence of degrees is a testament to most companies that a person has enough knowledge to start a career, and thus could communicate fluently. Any company that wishes to grow needs educated individuals in order to meet up with the international demand. Moreover, if only personal qualities are to be considered, it would be difficult to select individuals who are capable as everyone would claim to exhibit the required skillset.

Another moot point is that some fields cannot cope with humans who do not posses the needed education and experience. For example, Medicine and Nursing would need professionals who passed through the practical training in universities/colleges because they involve human element, and therefore, require real-hand expertise. In addition, all management positions require greatly exposed and highly experienced personnel. For example, it has been noted that 60 percent of companies that closed up in USA in the year 2020 was due to their management by unskilled workers.

In conclusion, it can be seen that an ability to communicate well and difficulty coping in essential fields are good reasons why study levels and experience should be given due importance. Therefore, I strongly disagree with the notion that personal characteristics should be focused on instead of education and work achievements.

Model Answer 2

A large majority of people insist that companies should pay greater attention to the personal characteristics of candidates than their professional exposure and education. Personally, I partially agree with this viewpoint, because both job qualifications and personality traits are equally important for a person to be successful in a job. In this essay, I will substantiate my personal standpoint.

On the one side, there is rising competition among the companies these days. In order to stay at the top, organisations are after the most talented individuals. As such, professional expertise is without the shadow of a doubt vital for the people employed. The lack of sufficient job knowledge creates inequality between employees, and it will be an overhead for the corporate as well as the deserving candidates. If less skilled individuals are hired, many bright minds would miss the opportunity. Likewise, companies incur huge financial losses owing to hiring unskilled staff.

On the flip side, there are several other aspects which are as crucial as the qualifications. Firstly, no one wishes to work with an unfriendly, selfish and arrogant person, who never applauds others’ success. By contrast, recruiting sociable, transparent and humorous team-players build cohesion in workplace. Secondly, they should be dynamic, adaptable and willing to learn new things. Even if job-aspirants are less skilled as per the job requirements but if they are enthusiastic with a strong desire to learn, they will surely be an asset to the company. Global business players such as Facebook and Microsoft have an interview that assesses the candidates’ ability to work under pressure and their adaptability to the organizational work culture. Similarly, the human resource team collects information such as family background and hobbies of the interviewees as they give a glimpse of the character of their prospective employees.

In conclusion, I have a form belief that relevant academic qualifications and work experience help a person to work to the best of their ability. However, personal traits cannot be ignored as team work is the norm in most workplaces.

Model Answer 3

In nowadays developed world, labor force plays a quintessential role In every enterprise and corporation, therefore, it is often considered that initial traits are the key factor of recruitment when compared to another elements. Personally, I partly agree that employers should pay more attention to employees’ individual qualities, since their education and working experience are also not less important.

On the one hand, while qualifications can be achieved within a couple of years, personal values and talents for certain jobs require ages, which makes recruiters prioritise this criterion over the others . Besides, individuals with superior personalities can skyrocket the business of their company with their enthusiasm, strong commitment and positive thinking. For example, some of the world’s greatest men including Elon Musk and Warren Buffet, both of whom didn’t graduate from universities but made huge differences that changed the world thanks to their outstanding personal traits.

On the other hand, however, there are various jobs that require high level of studies and certain degrees. These requirements are crucial standards to illustrate that a person have full ability to practice in some profession. To be a medical practitioner, for instance, a man has to study for average 4 to 7 years along with a dozen training courses of first-hand practicing, afterward he can operate people. Supposed that that doctor weren’t qualified, the aftermath on his patients would be devastating.

To sum up, I would like to reiterate my partial agreement with the opinion of personality’s priority over education and working experience regarding recruitments for certain reasons.
