For easier understanding, I have divided this IELTS Cue Card into three parts – IntroductionQuestions, and Conclusion.

Introducing your favorite movie

Movies are indeed a great source of entertainment. My family is a die-hard fan of movies and we hardly skip any weekends without watching a movie.

So today, I would take this opportunity to talk about my favourite film – A walk to remember.

When & where you saw it?

Actually, last Sunday, me and my cousins gathered at my Aunt’s place for a family reunion and we watched the movie there on her brand new 4k television.

As a matter of fact, we made no such plan of a movie night. It was all impromptu.

What type of film it was?

The movie was a love story, but a sad one. There was something intrinsically sweet about the characters that gradually seemed to take over the movie. It was also the only movie that made me cry while watching.

What the film was about?

It was about an outwardly plain Christian girl named Jamie, and Landon, an aimless, reckless guy who breezed through school on looks and popularity. The two develop a powerful and inspirational relationship in which they discover truths that take most people a lifetime to learn.

Explain why it is your favourite film?

I like this movie for many reasons. The lead character, Jamie was not afraid of letting people know that her faith was the most important part of her life. That was very awe-inspiring to me.

Besides this, The film also manifested that it is possible for people to mend their ways. Above all, it was a love story and that is my favourite kind of genre.

Concluding the cue card

In the end I would just say that… These great love stories shows us that it all comes down to who is by your side and who is willing to stand up for love even when it seems impossible.

1. Do you think watching films have any educational benefits?

Yes, definitely! I think watching a documentary serves huge educational purpose. Besides this, Films which are multilingual provides a great boost in understanding of a new language. For instance, NETFLIX (famous video streaming app) host thousands of movies in different languages especially to facilitate language learning.

2. In what ways are documentary films and entertainment films are different?

Well, the documentaries are full of informational quotient. They are supposed to explore histories, cultures, biographies and art pieces. Whereas, feature films have the sole aim to earn money. They have targeted audience who they keep glued onto the screen by providing entertainment. Moreover, documentaries are low-budget whereas commercial films may cost billions of dollars.

Frankly speaking, I don’t think they are less popular. I mean look at When We Were Kings which won an Oscar for its portrait of Muhammad Ali. Actually, they have a niche audience so they appear to be less famous on a global scale but in reality they are not.

4. Do men and women like to watch the same kinds of films?

NO!! Men & women watch different genres. On the one hand, men like to watch sci-fi, action and sports oriented movies, on the other hand, women prefer romantic, family & fashion based movies.

5. Do different age groups like the same kinds of films?

No, children mostly watch fantasy movies which consist of a lot of animation and cartoon characters. Teenagers and Adults like to stream romantic and trendy movies. Elderly people are largely fans of biographies and family movies.

6. Do you like any particular film star? Why?

Yes, I admire Johnny Depp a lot! He never ceases to amaze me. His style and range of acting and the variety of shows that he does are a true testament to his incredible acting ability.
