IELTS Speaking Topic Part 1 – Name [Question & Answer]
1️⃣ Is it easy for you to remember people’s names? 2️⃣ How do you remember people’s names? 3️⃣ How do you feel when people can’t remember your name? 4️⃣ Do you often forget people’s names? |
Is it easy for you to remember people’s names?
Not exactly! It is hard to remember so many names. But I try to practice an extraordinary trick whenever I meet a new person. I examine a person’s face discreetly when I am introduced; try to find an unusual feature, whether ears, hairline, forehead, eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, chin, complexion, etc. This way I create an association between that characteristic and the name in my mind.
How do you remember people’s names?
Like I said, compelling associations that stick in the mind like a TV commercial jingle do help in remembering names. I link the names I want to remember to people, characters or things I am already familiar with. I received this life-changing tip from a famous motivational speaker years ago.
How do you feel when people can’t remember your name?
I place great value on truly connecting with other people. It’s one of my personal frustrations that I feel naturally terrible when somebody can’t remember my name.
Do you often forget people’s names?
Sometimes I get carried away during the meetings and as a result I forget people’s names later. But I am improving on this piece-by-piece.
