IELTS Speaking Part 1 – FURNITURE [Answers + Band 9 Vocabulary]

In IELTS Speaking Part 1, there will be a Question & Answer session between the candidate and the examiner around a specific topic, such as Furniture in this case. The examiner will also ask some general questions in the beginning about the candidate, for instance, about where you live, where you work, study etc.

Part 1 focuses on the ability to share personal information and opinions on everyday life. There is no fixed quota of questions and the examiner is free to ask any number of questions. It lasts for around 4-5 minutes.

Do you have a lot of furniture in your home?

Frankly, We don’t have too much furniture at home. We pick what fits well… leaving enough room for movement and future additions. I personally like minimalism, so we just have some selective furniture in all rooms. We do have one artistically designed wardrobe though.

Is there anyone who bought furniture for you?

My mother is a shopaholic. She bought furniture pieces for my room on a website called pepperfry.com. Undoubtedly, the furniture looks astonishing. I really adore the craftsmanship.

What kind of furniture would you like to buy?

Well! I have a small garden at the backyard, so I like to purchase patio furniture for the outdoor. I would typically go for weather-resistant materials such as aluminium which is rust-proof. Also, I would love to add garden accessories such as birdbaths, plant stands, planter boxes and trellises to add detail to my outdoor space.

Which furniture do you like best in your home?

In our home, we have a foldable dining table – my best loved piece of furniture. Being light-weight helps it to move it easily anywhere. Whether I want to dine in the room or in the balcony or even outdoors I can easily take this masterpiece without any hassle.
