Introducing an occasion

A warm smile is the universal language of kindness. In today’s chronically busy lifestyle we often overlook the significance of joy. But today I’d take this opportunity to talk about a time when I saw a lot of people smiling.

When it happened?

The scene happened last Sunday. I was attending a comedy event at the vibrant Playground Comedy Studio, Delhi. It is one of the rare places in Delhi that lends you a wholesome nightlife experience with great food, drinks, and entertainment.

Who were with you?

I was accompanied by my elder brother to the event. The hall was jam-packed when we reached there. Actually, the cutesy 50-seater space is always reverberating with laughter on the weekends when they host their lineup shows and solo gigs.

What happened?

Just as we were about to settle, the famous stand-up comedian Neeti Palta arrived on stage. She, in her signature style, said Hello to everyone and started cracking jokes. The way she mixed up poetry & jokes is incredible. I remember there was one banter on the life in a Metro train and you wouldn’t believe, it was so rib-tickling that people couldn’t control their laughter.

Explain why many people were smiling?

The whole bunch of people present over there started smiling because, Neeti articulated the true life of a common man travelling in a Metro every day & night. As such, people did relate to that joke, which in turn triggered uncontrollable laughter.

Follow-ups

Following are the probable set of IELTS Speaking Part-3 follow up questions for Describe an occasion when many people were smiling cue card:

When & Why do people smile?

Well! People smile because of different reasons. Some people think it’s a way of expressing happiness & joy, while others smile to spread good vibes into their surroundings. Jokes are another great thing that can make any crestfallen human smiling within seconds.

What’s the difference between a true smile and a fake smile?

From my personal standpoint, true smile has its roots in the heart which makes our whole body enacts in synchronisation. While a fake smile often remains out of sync with the body, but it’s a powerful tool that may hoodwink people. So we should tread cautiously!

Why do people smile when they take photos?

You know, We are living in the era of selfies, people smile during photo sessions because simply they want to look happy & charming. Moreover, photographs are not just a piece of paper, they capture a moment in time that we’ll be able to remember and cherish years from now.

Who smiles more according to you, males or females?

I think BOTH men & women smile to express their joy. Since there’s no scale to measure the numbers gender wise, it’s hard to say who smiles more.

Do you think smiling people are more friendly?

Yes, Absolutely I think people who smiles more often are liked by everyone. They spread happiness around and therefore considered to be friendly.

Do people smile more when they are younger or older?

It’s a tricky question! Well, from my own experience older people tend to smile more in comparison to younger people. Because youngsters have their lives more focused on work so they overlook everything else, while older people have all the time in this world to cherish the good moments they spent and smile.
