Describing a place in a village

My village is a place that I like to visit on my vacations or whenever I feel stressed and want to relax. It is a place that is serene and silent with no air pollution as well. Also, I feel an emotional connection with the soil in a village.

Where it is?

The place is a Sikh temple Gurudwara Nanak Darbar Sahib in a village near Bathinda. It is a place that is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

When you visited this place?

I happened to go on Sunday. I heard the kirtan in the evening and the evening prayers at the Gurudwara till 7.00 pm. It was my first visit to this place, and I was feeling blissful.

What you did there?

Firstly, I covered my head with a scarf. It is considered a mark of respect to cover one’s head in the holy assembly. Then, I sat where others were sitting and listened to Gurbani (sayings of the Gurus). After sitting for a while, I moved on to the Langar hall.

Gurus initiated the Langar system to remove social, racial, economic, gender barriers so that everyone can eat by sitting together irrespective of their social standing.

How you feel about this place?

I was awed by its mesmerising architecture, friendly volunteers, peaceful vibes and daily langars. It was a divine experience, and I completely felt at ease. I was feeling as if I was at a place where caste, colour, and creed do not exist.

Concluding the cue card

In the end, I would say that there’s no place as peaceful as this place. The best thing is, the entire village lives in harmony and there is no conflict whatsoever.
